We are experiencing global unity to liberate Palestine: Ex-US congresswoman

A former US congresswoman tells Muslimpress that it is safe to acknowledge the global unity to liberate Palestine and defeat the Israeli regime’s oppression of the Palestinian people.

“For generations, I have watched the divide-and-rule strategy defeat justice for Palestinians by balkanizing the Arab and Muslim worlds.ButI feel that we are now experiencing a kind of unity that can truly liberate Palestine,” Cynthia McKinney said in an interview.

She also noted that the Palestinian resistance’s operation against Israel also comes at a time when the structure of international relations is changing, and when confidence in global institutions created by the West is decimated and alternatives are being constructed.

The following is the full transcript of the interview:

How do you assess the influence of pro-Israel lobbies in the United States, especially since Israel waged its latest war on Gaza on October 7?

The pro-Israel Lobby in the US still possesses ownership of the US Federal Reserve, which keeps its friends flush with cash; it still has at least one employee in each of the offices of the 535 members of Congress. There are still hundreds of pro-Israel supporters at the very top of the Executive Branch (as well as the Legislative Branch) of the US government who cause the US to have a policy of hatred toward Palestinians. Until the Federal Reserve is a public central bank, the pro-Israel Lobby will be able to spend any amount of money to buy the consciences and souls of USpoliticians.Until members of Congress are not pressured by the financial benefactors and campaign contributors to make certain hires on their Congressional staff, we can expect even worse coming from the US Congress. As long as the children and grandchildren of the Members of the Irgun are the ones writing the laws in US Congress and executing the laws in the presidential offices and government departments and agencies, US policy can only get worse–not better–OR, the people of the US get wise and see that they still have the power to eject the interlopers loyal to another government from their privileged government positions and restore the US Constitution.

Zionists level charges of anti-Semitism against those who oppose Israel and Zionism. How has this phenomenon affected you personally?

1. I was asked to sign a pledge of loyalty to Israel, not my country, and a country that works against my own country and its people; 2. When I refused to sign a loyalty oath to Israel, I was ejected from the Congress—twice; 3. In my life after Congress, no university inside the United States would hire me—I am unemployable inside the US at any University—and I’ve tried at many. Thank goodness, however, education is not a Zionist-controlled industry in other parts of the world, where I teach graduate and undergraduate students.

In your view, what’s the significance of Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, which was waged in response to Israel’s relentless atrocities against Palestinians?

While we must not celebrate too soon, I think it is safe to acknowledge the unity for liberation that we are witnessing and hold fast to it, because that is the only way we can overcome the culture of oppression which had become normalized and transform that culture into one that recognizes and accepts the diversity in the Arab and Muslim worlds and not only recognizes it, but appreciates it, and that becomes a new culture based on cooperation, dignity, and respect for all members of these worlds and their allies. This also comes at a time when the structure of international relations is changing, and when confidence in global institutions created by the West is decimated and alternatives are being constructed. New alliances and coalitions are also manifested now due to the “special military operation” conducted by Russia in Ukraine. The West’s efforts to create a “Big Israel” in Ukraine are being rebuffed in a way that has created synergy inside Russia between the Orthodox Church and Islam; this new reality leads to questions being raised by Russia and China about the legitimacy of Israel’s colonial occupation of Palestine.Finally, this new alignment includes North Korea, Iran, Russia, China, Syria, Lebanon, and if the people of Pakistan can reverse the ouster of Imran Khan by the US, Pakistan, too.The United States wants to oust Hamas from Gaza and replace the vacuum with collaborationists.This should be rejected at every turn by people of conscience around the world, including inside the US.

How has the operation changed the West Asia region?

The “Greater Israel” could now be dead OR it could go global based on what we the people in resistance to tyranny do now.
